Real-time
Storing and Retrieving of your Mails
Text
MetaConnector for Microsoft Exchange 2000 is an online archiving
solution for fast storing and retrieving of mails and other Exchange
items. The integration into existing messaging environments is effortless
and needs only the installation of a lightweight server extension.
The administration
is tightly integrated into the Exchange configuration as a part
of of the Microsoft Management Console. This allows a simple and
straight forward management of the archived mailboxes in sync with
the global configuration of the Exchange server network.
The 3-tier architecture
of the MetaModules application server offers a flexible, distributed
and highly scalable archiving solution. The separation of the Exchange
administration and the configuration of the document/data flow in
the used archive system makes the management of the underlying archiving
solution completely transparent to the Exchange system administrator.
The MetaModules archiving solution supports magnetic and optical
media, mirroring and document migration in a distributed environment.

Integration
After the installation of a small server side software library,
the MetaConnector for Microsoft Exchange 2000 is ready to use. Using
the Microsoft Management Console, the connection between the Exchange
Server and the underlying archiving system will be configured.
The archiving policies for single users or user groups can be modified
during the productive use of the system. By scheduled archiving
tasks, mailbox content is stored to the archive and removed from
the Exchange Server to reduce disk usage and server load. Whenever
an archived mail, which is no longer pertinent on the local server
is accessed, the server instantly retrieves the data from the archive
and serves the mail request from the client. This retrieval process
is invisible to the user, even the user has not to know which mails
of his mailbox are archived.
Optionally an Outlook Forms based interface for user based archiving
can be provided, which also flags archived items by a “modified”
icon.
