Installation
A simple installation procedure is delivered for your Domino
Server. The setup process instantly detects your environment and
installs the MetaConnector for Lotus Domino in specific Lotus Domino
directories on your machine. To see the installation procedure for
your Domino server, check the following viewlet.
Lotus Configuration
A Lotus Notes based administration environment is used to configure
the databases that are monitored by the MetaConnector. An individual
configuration is possible for each database. You can obtain an overview
of your databases on the local Lotus Domino server to check the
archive integration status of all databases instantly. To handle
a large amount of databases with same archive configurations (mail
accounts), it is possible to copy a configuration to a selected
group of databases.
By specifying objects and their attributes the administrator can
determine what will be archived. These objects are mail bodies,
rich text, attachments or MIME type items. It is possible to store
them by default or by defining a minimum size.

A
period of time can be scheduled for each database that determines
how long the specified objects stay at least in the Lotus Domino server
until the next archiving process stores it into the archive and removes
them from your Lotus Domino database.

Revisioning
If the revisioning option for a database is enabled, a modified
note will be stored automatically as a new revision. The MetaConnector
takes care of the revision management and allows the administrator
to retrieve earlier revisions of a note.
The Lotus
Domino Server Extension
The
Lotus Domino server extension recognizes every read access to a
note located in a configured database and restores the archived
note before the Lotus Domino server passes it to the requesting
application. This mechanism is completely independent and supports
every application that interacts with a Lotus Domino server without
the need for any modification.
